gemma

Gemma Adams
Gemma initiated the first iRest Yoga Nidra program for military veterans and spouses in the Chicago area at the Evanston Vet Center in 2009, where she continues today. Early in 2014 she was brought into Lovell FHCC, presenting iRest in the Partners Empowerment Program. She completed training with Warriors At Ease for teaching meditation in military settings, and Illinois National Guard’s Military Culture 101. Gemma began a personal yoga practice in 2001 which gave her relief of 20 years of back pain and anxiety from a former high-pressured corporate job. Before embarking on studies of meditation and iRest, she completed a 200-hour Teacher Training at Yogaview in Chicago in 2006. In addition to her work with veterans, she teaches hatha yoga to individuals and groups, and annually brings iRest to her birthplace, Ireland. Gemma is a wife and mother of two daughters, and serves as secretary of VRP.
